5K benefits rare condition that causes severe facial pain


Liesl Sisson awoke to pain on the right side of her face like electric shocks. It was Easter weekend of 2006, her junior year at the University of Wyoming. The doctor at the university prescribed her medications for various sinus ailments, but none of them stopped the nearly constant spasms of pain she experienced with each heartbeat.

After two months of taking numerous multicolored pills that did nothing, the doctor looked and her and said, “I can’t help you.”

Sisson told her story of excruciating pain and her struggle to reach a diagnosis of trigeminal neuralgia to a crowd gathered for the second annual “Facing It 5K” on Saturday at Mountain View Regional Hospital. Read More...
